Oops ... it seems that somehow almost two years went by. D'oh!!! Okay, so if you're interested in what's changed, here's the rundown:
Winter 2004: Back to class. Class still sucks, but at least I have EngSoc to distract me, including a trip to Vancouver/Victoria. Conference was in Victoria, but I spent a week visiting Scott first. That was nice.
The 4th years didn't destroy everything, also appreciated since I was Prez at the time and had to do damage control. Still working part time for the co-op department because that helps pay the bills. It turns out that class doesn't suck as badly as I thought - by the end of it all my average was back where it started in 1A. I blame the improvement on being able to choose courses I like.
Summer 2004: Working for ESQ (Engineering Science Quest), running a computer camp for kids in grade 7 to 11. Pretty relaxed overall. Spent a week in Sweden for a co-op conference. University travel budgets are cushy, so it worked out to be a completely free trip. No complaints here! The conference was good too - met some interesting people, got harrassed by two frenchmen on the way back home. An experience every girl should go through at some point in her life, to be sure!
Fall 2004: More class. 4A, though, so I still get to pick my courses. More EngSoc Prez fun :) Oh yeah, and organizing OEC 2005. So busy on the whole. My landlord is a jerk, but I should have seen that coming. (Fortunately, he's no longer my landlord.) The windows that were taken out of the basement in September were finally replaced in December. That was considerate of him. Lots of exercise keeping my car at Weber and Union while he repaired the driveway ... for six weeks. If you want the rest of the story please refrain from asking. It's too painful, really. At the same time, I'm working at Fed Hall. The shame of it is that there are certain songs that I will never be able to hear without feeling like I'm in the campus bar.
Winter 2005: Last round of class. Yay IRS! Yay finishing my 4th year project successfully! Yay EngSoc issues being someone else's problem to deal with! And, although my marks weren't quite as good as 3B and 4A, I'd still say I ended on a high note. OEC went off well, thanks to all the volunteers :) Working two part time jobs (Fed Hall, and a evening program for ESQ) kept the rest of my time filled. I started real work in April (at BMO). Money is nice.
Summer 2005: Working for BMO in Scarborough. People are nice, but the area sucks. My roommate, Suzanne, is awesome (even if she is a civil engineer from Queen's). Proof that internet roommate services work. Unfortunately, Scarborough sucks. In August I move from Scarlem (well, technically I was in Markham, but who can tell the difference any more?) to Aurora. Nice house, appartment is small but very comfortable. I've also switched jobs to work downtown again. Definitely happy with that decision :)
Backtracking a little bit, I spent a week in June in Yosemite park with my boyfriend Steve. We started planning the trip as friends in December, but started going out in February. I'm happy to report that we are still together, and having spent weekends at each of our respective parent's cottages it looks like there won't be family problems to interfere. But back to Yosemite.
The park is absolutely gorgeous - highly recommended if you're ever in California that you go visit. If you ask nicely I'll post some photos :)
So that's the update for now. I'm going to try to stay on top of this so people who are far away (like Waterloo, Burlington, and Stratford) and those who are even further away (Hong Kong!) can drop in from time to time. Keep in touch if you feel inclined!!!
